Kadurugoda Vihara கதுருகொட விஹாரா

Kandarodai which displays a collection of small dagobas can be reached after travelling 0 to 14km from Jaffna town, Northern Province. In early kingdom era, the area was reserved as capital for Tamil kingdoms and called as Kadiramalai.

Kantharodai is the first archaeological site that found in the Jaffna, Northern Province. Nearly 62 dagobas were found during the excavation and they were built using limestone. According to archaeologists these stupas are date back to 2nd century. In legends it is stated that the stupas consist of buried fossils related to number of Buddhist monks who lived in Jaffna at that time and expired due to huger. The nearby collection of Kantharodai and which are now placed in Jaffna museum, witness for the existence of Buddhism in Jaffna.The collection of some coins, Buddha statue, stone inscriptions & some foreign materials reveals that the area was famous for trade and influenced by Buddhism Kadurugoda Viharaya is an ancient Buddhist temple situated in Chunnakam, Jaffna District, Sri Lanka. The temple is located in a small hamlet called Kandarodai and it is one of the few Buddhist temples remaining in Jaffna today.

வடக்கு மாகாணத்தில் யாழ்ப்பாண நகரில் இருந்து 14 கி.மீ. தூரத்திற்குச் செல்லும்போது சிறிய தொட்டிகளை சேகரிக்கும் காண்டரோட்டை அடையலாம். ஆரம்பகால இராச்சிய சகாப்தத்தில், இப்பகுதி தமிழ் ராஜ்யங்களுக்கான மூலதனமாக ஒதுக்கப்பட்டு, கதிடிமலை என அழைக்கப்பட்டது.

வடமாகாணத்தில் யாழ்ப்பாணத்தில் காணப்பட்ட முதலாவது தொல்பொருள் களமாக கந்தரோடை. அகழ்வாராய்ச்சியின் போது 62 டகோபாக்கள் கண்டுபிடிக்கப்பட்டன, அவர்கள் சுண்ணாம்பு பயன்படுத்தி கட்டப்பட்டது. தொல்பொருள் ஆராய்ச்சியாளர்களின் கூற்றுப்படி இந்த ஸ்தூபிகள் 2 ஆம் நூற்றாண்டுக்கு முந்தையன. அந்த நினைவுச்சின்னங்களில், அந்த சமயத்தில் யாழ்ப்பாணத்தில் வாழ்ந்த பௌத்த துறவிகளின் எண்ணிக்கை மற்றும் புனிதர் காரணமாக காலாவதியானது தொடர்பான புதைக்கப்பட்ட புதைகுழிகள் உள்ளன. யாழ்ப்பாணத்தில் புத்தமதத்தின் இருப்பைக் காண சாட்சிரோடு அருகில் உள்ள யாழ்ப்பாண அருங்காட்சியகத்தில் தற்போது காணப்படுகிறது. சில நாணயங்கள், புத்த சிலை, கல் கல்வெட்டுகள் மற்றும் சில வெளிநாட்டுப் பொருட்களின் சேகரிப்பு இவற்றில் வர்த்தகத்திற்கு பிரபலமானது மற்றும் பௌத்தத்தால் பாதிக்கப்பட்டதாக வெளிப்படுத்துகிறது. கதுருகொடா விஹாரயா என்பது இலங்கையின் யாழ்ப்பாண மாவட்ட சுன்னாகத்தில் அமைந்துள்ள ஒரு பழமையான புத்த கோவிலாகும். கந்தரோடை என்றழைக்கப்படும் சிறிய குக்கிராமத்தில் இந்த கோயில் அமைந்துள்ளது. இன்று யாழ்ப்பாணத்தில் எஞ்சியிருக்கும் சில புத்த கோவில்களில் ஒன்றாகும்.
