Jaffna Dutch Fort யாழ்ப்பாணம் டச்சு கோட்டை

Jaffna Fort was first built by the Portuguese by next to the Jaffna lagoon in the year1618 under the leadership of Philip De Olivera after Portuguese capturing the Northern Kingdom. It was surrounded by manmade water passage except a small land route, where its entrance was guarded with massive wooden doors. There are well planned fortresses to attack the oncoming enemies on the lower ground without much damage to the forces in side of the fort. The Fort is structured in the high ground and the surrounding area is made to be low grounds. So if anybody is approaching the fort they will be visible and vulnerable to be attacked by the guards from nearby point from the fort.

யாழ்ப்பாண கோட்டை போர்த்துகீசியர்களால் வடபிரதேசத்தை போர்த்துகீசியர்கள் கைப்பற்றிய பின்னர், 1618 ஆம் ஆண்டில் யாழ்ப்பாணக் குகைக்கு அடுத்தபடியாக பிலிப் டி ஆலிவேராவின் தலைமையில் கட்டப்பட்டது. இது ஒரு சிறிய நிலப்பரப்பு தவிர, மனிதனால் செய்யப்பட்ட நீர்த்தேக்கத்தால் சூழப்பட்டிருந்தது, அதன் நுழைவாயில் பாரிய மர கதவுகளுடன் பாதுகாக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது. கோட்டையின் பக்கத்தில் உள்ள படைகளுக்கு அதிக சேதம் இல்லாமல் குறைந்த தரையில் வரவிருக்கும் எதிரிகளை தாக்குவதற்கு நன்கு திட்டமிடப்பட்ட கோட்டைகளும் உள்ளன. கோட்டையானது உயர் நிலத்தில் அமைக்கப்பட்டிருக்கிறது மற்றும் சுற்றியுள்ள பகுதி குறைந்த தரமாக அமைந்துள்ளது. கோட்டையிலிருந்து யாராவது வந்துவிட்டால், கோட்டையிலிருந்து அருகிலுள்ள காவலாளர்கள் தாக்கப்படுவார்கள், தாக்கப்படுவார்கள்.
