Nilavarai Well நிலவாரை நன்றாக

Even though it is not sure that this well is really bottomless and even the depth is not calculated, according to the villagers this well has water throughout the year. You can’t empty it even you use many water pumps together and pump for several hours. For the safely of the visitors, Nilavarai is surrounded by a wire mesh and a fence. Even though we get fresh water from this well, bottom part becomes salty. Some believe that this pond connected to Keermalei Pond or even may have connection to the sea. This well is in Square shape and there is a separate path to get down to it. According to the religious believes, during their return journey, Rama felt thirsty and sent an arrow shot to the earth and that’s how this bottomless well was born.
